South African side Free State Cheetahs will play host to French opposition USA Perpignan in Sunday’s Challenge Cup match. Both sides will be looking to add some consistency to their recent mixed results. Let’s look at the numbers and a prediction for the match.

Free State Cheetahs will once again be playing their home matches away from South Africa. One of the requirements for them to participate in the Challenge Cup is that they should be based in Europe.

Izak van der Westhuizen’s charges have been in wanting form in the Currie Cup recently. Their worrying run has seen them win only one of their last five games.

Meanwhile, USA Perpignan are once again struggling in the French Top 14, sitting in 11th position with 19 points from 11 games. The visitors have plummeted on the log following their back-to-back losses to heavyweights RC Toulonnais and Stade Toulousain.

In their most recent defeat to Toulonnais, Perpignan struggled to contain Enzo Hervé who bagged 17 points from his boot. On the road, their form has not been the best, having lost their last seven games.

This has largely been down to a blunt attack that has registered only 200 points this season, marking the least points in the division.
