Cheetahs vs Griquas Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

The current Currie Cup leaders, the Free State Cheetahs, will play host to the fifth-placed Griquas on Saturday afternoon. The home side are level with the Natal Sharks on 38 points at the top of the standings, while Griquas are just three points behind Western Province, who are in the fourth and final qualification spot. The Cheetahs have been hunted down by the Sharks in recent weeks, and after losing to the Durban side last week, they are now just ahead courtesy of a better points difference. If the hosts win this match, they will be guaranteed a qualification spot. Over the course of the tournament, the Cheetahs have recorded seven wins and four losses, though two of those losses came in their last two matches, and three were on their home patch. The hosts beat this opponent 42-19 in the reverse fixture and will fancy their chances of securing qualification with two games still to go. 

Meanwhile, it’s crunch time for Griquas, who could be knocked out of the tournament this weekend if they lose here and Western Province beat the Golden Lions. Should both Griquas and Western Province win this week, it would set up an incredible penultimate week where the two will face off at Windhoek Draught Park next weekend. The visitors kept their qualification hopes alive by beating Griffons 40-20 last week and picking up a bonus point in the process. They’ve now recorded six wins and five losses in their eleven matches and are only one point ahead of the Blue Bulls and two clear of the Golden Lions. All three of those sides are still in with a chance of qualifying. Griquas have won three and lost three of their six away matches. This is their final away match of the group stages, and they will need an almighty effort to overcome the pacey Cheetahs on their home patch.
