Cheetahs vs Western Province Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

The Free State Cheetahs and Western Province will collide in Saturday’s only match of the 2024 Currie Cup in Bloemfontein. The hosts currently lead Pool A with five points while the visitors are third with two points. 

The Cheetahs completely blew away the Griffons by a massive 82-20 scoreline last week to get their title defence off to the perfect start. They ran in a whopping 12 tries to take the maximum of five points on offer and lead their Pool after week one. 

Sbu Nkosi, Ethan Wentzel, Gideon van der Merwe (2), Litha Nkula, Jeandre Rudolph, Daniel Kasende (2), Jandre Nel and Neel Volschenk all crossed the whitewash in the victory. There was also a penalty try awarded to the men from the Free State. 

The defending champions won four of their seven home games last season en route to the title. They also beat this opponent home and away, including a 26-21 victory here at this venue.

Meanwhile, Western Province will be desperate to bounce back from their opening weekend defeat, where they went down 30-25 against old foes the Blue Bulls at the Cape Town Stadium last Sunday. 

Jean-Luc du Plessis, Gary Porter, Angelo Davids and Wandisile Simelane all crossed the whitewash for Province, winning their side a bonus point for tries scored, while the side also earned a point for losing by fewer than seven points.

The visitors will need a better showing this week and have made five changes for the trip to the City of Roses. One notable change is the addition of Andre-Hugo Venter, who was released from the Springbok squad to get some game time with Rassie Erasmus maintaining the same starting lineup against Ireland this weekend.
