Taylor Fritz is seeded four places below his opponent Casper Ruud but is the favorite to progress to the US Open quarter-finals. Can the 12th seed win this match? Read our match prediction.

Fritz is attempting to reach the US Open quarter-finals for the second successive year. If doing so, it'd be his third quarter-final in four Grand Slams but he's yet to go any further. Perhaps this might be the year?

The American is 12th in the live rankings but three places higher in the ATP Race. A place in the end-of-season ATP Tour Finals is well within his reach. He has been in good form this week with three straight sets wins.

To get into the quarter-final though, he needs to beat Casper Ruud for the first time in his career. Ruud leads 2-0 in previous meetings but this is their first match on an outdoor hard court. Both players won a set in those two matches.

There was also a tie-break played in both those matches, so a side bet on one in this fourth round match looks a decent wager.

Ruud is fifth in the ATP Live Race but has dropped sets in both of his last two matches in this tournament. Four sets were needed to beat French veteran Gael Monfils and then he had real problems against Junchen Shang.
