The round of 16 at the Rome Masters will continue this week, with Casper Ruud taking on Laslo Djere on Tuesday afternoon. Ranked fourth in the world, Ruud has struggled to follow up on his excellent showing in Estoril at the start of last month, where he earned his first title of the year by beating Botic Van De Zandschulp in straight sets in the final. Following wins over Constant Lestienne, Botic Van De Zandsculp, and Cristian Garin here in Rome, Djere's record now stands at 17-12 for the year and 12-7 on clay. Despite the gap in ranking, Djere has beaten this opponent in two previous encounters, the most recent came in Australia at the start of this year, while the first came on the clay at the Rio Open back in 2019.
