Caroline Garcia vs Tereza Martincova Prediction & Betting Tips - Lyon, France, Qualifying

Caroiine Garcia is the top seed in the Lyon Open. The French player begins her campaign with a first round match against Tereza Martincova.  The winner of this match faces either Alison Van Uytvanck or Tamara Korpatch in round two. Garcia went down a place to fifth in the world rankings after being beaten by Magda Linette in the last 16 of the Australian Open. Last year ended well for Garcia winning the WTA Tour Finals with wins over four top ten ranked players. Garcia hasn't quite hit those heights yet but did begin 2023 with two wins representing France in the United Cup. The second Adelaide International tournament saw Garcia lose in the last eight to Belinda Bencic. Three matches were won in the Australian Open before the surprise loss to Linette.

Tereza Martincova has her work cut out here as she's only 87th in the world. Martincova fell 13 places in the latest list after losing in the first round of the Australian Open. The Czech got to the second round in 2022 but this year had the misfortune to draw eventual champion Aryna Sabalenka in the first round and only won five games. That was her fourth consecutive first round exit in a Grand Slam tournament. Before the Australian Open, Martincova lost in the first round in Auckland, won two qualifers in Hobart but was beaten by Laura Siegemund in round one. Martincova has had five previous matches against Garcia and trails 3-2. Garcia has won two of the last three but lost the most recent one played in 2020 but that was on clay. Go for Garcia to win this in straight sets.
