Top seed Caroline Garcia will on Thursday battle the unseeded Zhu Lin at the Tennis in the Land Tourney. The winner of this quarterfinal tie will play either Xin Wang, Aliaksandra Sasnovich, or Ekaterina Alexandrova in the semis. Caroline Garcia has been in dominant form in Cleveland and has won her two rounds without dropping a set. In the last round, she defeated crowd favorite Peyton Stearns 7-6, 6-3. The Frenchwoman has struggled with her form this year. She will however hope that this strong start to her second appearance here leads her to a first title of the season. The current world number seven has lost the two finals she has played in 2023 with one being on hard court. An 11-time tour champion, Garcia has compiled a 31-18 record with 15 of those victories coming in 25 outings on hard court.

Zhu Lin lost to Garcia in their only encounter to date. This however was 11 years ago and it will do little to offset her preparations. The Chinese number two has also dominated her opponents in Cleveland and is yet to drop a set in two matches. She has lost a combined eight games in both of her fixtures. Lin began the tournament with a dominant display against eighth seed Anna Blinkova and won 6-0, 6-3. In the last round, she defeated Julia Grabher by the loss of five games. Lin is making her debut in Cleveland and has been able to jump up two places to 46th in the live ranking. She has compiled a 20-16 record with a massive 16 of her victories coming on hard court. This form on the surface allowed her to win her first tour title which was achieved in Hua Hin in February.
