It's the final of the Lyon Open and top seeded Caroline Garcia takes on unseeded Alyson Parks. A win for Garcia will see her become the first French woman to win this title. Winning this final will only narrow the gap on fourth place in the rankings for the world number five. In terms of the WTA Race (based on points earned this year), Garcia will be seventh on the list regardless of the result of this final. Garcia will want to ensure she qualifies for the end-of-season WTA Finals, considering she won the title last year. This week has gone rather smoothly for the top seed with no seeds having to be faced. Only one set has been dropped, that was the opening one in her second round win over Alison Van Uytvanck. That was only a slight setback though as the next two sets were won for the loss of just one game. The semi-finals saw the top seed end the run of Camila Osorio, with only four games lost.

It's been the best week ever in the career of Alycia Parks. The American began this tournament ranked 79th but is up to a career-high 62nd and can climb to 50th if winning this final. The 22-year-old won a couple of WTA Challenger Tour events last December and last October got to the last eight in Ostrava with wins over Maria Sakkari and Karolina Pliskova. Her only tournament in 2023 before this Lyon Open was the Australian Open, losing in the second qualifying round. This week has been so much better though with wins including knocking out seeds Petra Martic and Danka Kovinic. The semi-final saw her get a straight sets win over Marya Zaneskva.
