Sofia Kenin bids to reach a second successive WTA Tour final. We're guaranteed an unseeded player in the final of the Guadalajara Open Akron as Kenin takes on fellow American Caroline Dolehide. The winner will face either second seed Maria Sakkari or third seeded Caroline Garcia in the final. Kenin was ranked fourth in the world three years ago but was as low as 280th in January of this year By July she'd climbed back up to 91st and was two places lower than that in the September 11th list. Since then though the American has reached the final in San Diego and now is one match away from another title decider. This great form has seen her rise to 31st and a win here will take her to 28th in the live rankings. This week has seen her beat two seeds, namely 12th seeded Anhelina Kalinina and sixth seed Jelena Ostapenko.

Also climbing up the rankings is Caroline Dolehide who was in 111th position at the start of this hard court tournament. Her run to this semi-final has seen her rise to 60th which beats her career high by 39 places. Beating Kenin will take her up to 42nd place. It's an unexpected performance as the 25-year-old had lost her last three matches before this tournament began. One of those was to a player who wasn't even in the top 600 at the time. This week has been a revelation for her but didn't look that way when losing the first set to Peyton Stearns in round one. Dolehide fought back to get the win and hasn't looked back since. Two more three setters have had to be played and that includes her quarter final win over Martina Trevisan. We go for Kenin to continue her excellent run.
