Top seeded Carlos Alcaraz bids to continue the highly impressive form he's shown since returning from injury. The Spaniard takes on Taylor Fritz who is the ninth seed for the Miami Masters. Alcaraz has to win this tournament to avoid Novak Djokovic taking his place as world number one. This is the fourth tournament he has played this year and so far he's won two and lost in one final. He's bidding to complete the Indian Wells/Miami double before heading to Europe for the clay court season. Alacaraz is yet to drop a set in this tournament and in the last round beat 16th seeded Tommy Paul 6-4 6-4. He's now won 17 of his 18 matches played this year, the only loss being on clay to Cameron Norrie.

Taylor Fritz began this tournament ranked tenth but is up a place in the live list.  He was as high as fifth eariier this month but slipped down to tenth when failing to successfully defend his Indian Wells title. The American has been consistent this year and this is the fifth successive tournament in which he has reached at least the last eight. His best performance has been winning the Delray Beach Open but no top 30 ranked players were beaten that week. Fritz has also made this round without dropping a set. He's beaten two seeds, Denis Shapovalov (24th) and Holger Rune who was seeded seventh. This is his first match against Alcaraz but it's the top seed who we believe can win.
