Top seeded Carlos Alcaraz takes on the fifth seed Stefanos Tsitispas in the Roland Garros quarter finals. The winner of this match will face either third seeded Novak Djokovic or the 11th seed Karen Khachanov for a place in the final. Alcaraz is making only his second last eight appearance at Roland Garros though many more lie ahead in the future. He's been in top form this season on clay both in South America and Europe. The 20-year-old won the Buenos Aires title and lost in the Rio final. Back in Europe, Alcaraz has won titles in Barcelona and Madrid and sits at the top of the world rankings and second in the Live ATP Race. Two more wins will take him to the number one spot on that list. Alcaraz has been in good form so far in this tournament. Four matches have been won for the loss of just one set. That one set dropped was in the second round when losing the second to Taro Daniel. He's played nine sets in which his opponent has failed to win more than two games. Two seeds have already been beaten by the Spaniard in this tournament. Round three saw him beat the 26th seeded Denis Shapovalov. In his last match he beat 17th seed Lorenzo Musetti for the loss of only seven games.

Stefanos Tsitsipas lost in the 2021 Roland Garros final but only reached the fourth round last year. Tsitsipas began this tournament ranked fifth but is up a place in the live rankngs. He's also fourth in the Live ATP Race. The Greek has played four previous tournaments on this year's European clay court season. He's been ultra consistent but is yet to lift a trophy. He did get to the final in Barcelona but only won seven games when losing to his opponent in this match. He's also only lost one set on his way to this quarter final. That came in the first round against Jiri Vesely. Alcaraz is the first seed that he's had to face in this tournament. Round four saw him defeat qualifier Sebastian Ofner in straight sets, not losing a game in the third. If he is to reach the next round he'll have to beat Alcaraz for the first time. He's lost all four previous meetings with the Spaniard and two of those have been on clay. We go for Alcaraz to win this in straight sets.
