Carlos Alcaraz vs Roberto Bautista-Agut Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Barcelona

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz faces 13th seeded Roberto Bautista Agut in the third round of the Barcelona Open. Alcaraz is bidding to win this outdoor clay court tournament for the second year in a row. The winner of this match takes on either tenth seed Alejandro Davidovich Fokina or unseeded Emil Ruusuvuori in the last eight.  Alcaraz defeated Nuno Borges in straight sets in the previous round and allowed the Portuguese just one game in the second set. That dominating performance is what has characterized the world number two this season as he has challenged for the title in each and every tournament he has played in. He has won two titles (Buenos Aires and Indian Wells) and made it to the final in Rio. His worst performance so far was at the Miami Open where he was unable to defend his title and was eliminated in the semifinals. He will hope that that isn’t the case here. This is his second match against Agut but the one previous win for Alcaraz was on a hard court surface.

Roberto Agut is having the complete opposite season that Alcaraz is having. The veteran Spaniard has won ten and lost ten this year. The season began with much promise for the current world number 25 as he made it to the final in Adelaide 2 but he has since not been able to replicate that performance and has won consecutive matches once since then, at the Australian Open. He has lost seven of his last 10 matches. He will hope however that his impressive straight-sets (6-2, 6-2) performance against compatriot Bernabe Zapata Miralles to book this round, is the catalyst for a deeper run here. Agut is making his eighth appearance in Barcelona with his best result being a quarter final finish in both 2015 and 2018.
