Carlos Alcaraz vs Novak Djokovic Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP French Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
It would have made a great final but instead Carlos Alcaraz taks on Novak Djokovic in the semi-finals at Roland Garros. Alcaraz is the top seed with Djokovic two places below him and it's a vital match for the top spot in the world rankings. A win for Alcaraz will keep hiim at the top of the rankings. However, if Djokovic can get the win and then go on to win the title, then he'll return to the top of the rankings. Carlos Alcaraz is in the semi-finals at Roland Garros for the first time in his career. He's already won three clay court tournaments this year and lost in the final of another. With a win at Indian Wells, he comes into this match with a record of 35 wins in 38 matches this year. Only one set has been dropped on his way to the last four. Taro Daniel managed that in the second round but Alcaraz has been in dominant form for most of this tournament. The quarter finals saw him beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. The Spaniard won the first two for the loss of only three games but needed a tie-break to clinch the victory. He's played 11 sets at Roland Garros this year in which his opponent has failed to win more than two games.
This is only the second match that Novak Djokovic has played against Carlos Alcaraz. They met last year on clay in Madrid and Alcaraz won in three sets. Djokovic comes into this tournament without a title win on clay this year. He won two tournaments down under at the start of the year and that included the Australian Open. It's not been so great on clay though with some disappointing defeats to players such as Lorenzo Musetti, Dusan Lajovic and Holger Rune. He has only dropped one set so far at Roland Garros. That was in his quarter final against Karen Khachanov on Tuesday. He lost the opening set and nearly the second as well. Alcaraz looks in brilliant form at present and we go for him to win this match.
