Top seed Carlos Alcaraz’s unbeaten record on grass will be on the line on Saturday when he battles 25th seed Nicolas Jarry at Wimbledon. In this third round outing, Alcaraz is playing his second match at the All England Club in the space of 24 hours. The world number one saw his second-round tie with Alexandre Muller pushed forward by a day and was played on Thursday. Rain has wreaked havoc on this year’s scheduling. Nonetheless, the Spaniard won the match in straight sets again to maintain his perfect record on grass. Alcaraz has won all seven of his matches on the surface with the last six coming via straight sets. He won his fifth title of the season at the Queen’s Club before arriving at Wimbledon. This was also his first tour-level success on grass. Alcaraz defeated Jarry in their only other encounter which was earlier this season in Rio.

Nicolas Jarry has won his two rounds in the competition in four sets. He defeated Jason Kubler in his last match and is now through to the third round for the first time. The Chilean isn’t a strong performer on grass but this season he has significantly improved on the surface. He has won more matches on grass than he has ever won in a season. Jarry has won four of his six fixtures on grass which has strengthened his win-loss record for the season to 28-12. The win over Kubler has now moved him up two places to 26th in the live ranking, a new career high. He too is playing his second match in the space of 24 hours. The winner of this third-round tie will advance to play either 19th seed Alexander Zverev or unseeded Matteo Berrettini in the fourth round.
