Carlos Alcaraz vs Nicolás Jarry Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Rio Open
by Kennedy Kechula | in Tennis Predictions
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz and the qualifier Nicolas Jarry will on Sunday face off in the semifinals of the Rio Open. Alcaraz is seeking to defend his title won in 2022 and the winner here will advance to the final to face either second-seed Cameron Norrie or the unseeded Bernabe Miralles. Alcaraz and Jarry have never met each other before. Alcaraz is playing at his second tournament of the season after spending the first month of the year out injured. Since his return, he has been on a tear and won the title in Buenos Aires and is expected to at least make the final in Brazil. He has dropped one set in his three matches in Rio and going back to Buenos Aires he has now lost just two sets in seven matches played in the year. Alcaraz was forced to come back from a losing position in the second round against the unseeded Fabio Fognini and lost that opening set 7-6. In the quarterfinals, he was paired up once against Dusan Lajovic for the second successive tournament and prevailed 6-4, 7-6. Advancing to the final will see him move one step closer to reclaiming the ATP number one title.
Nicolas Jarry began the week ranked 139th and advancing to the semifinals in Rio after coming through the qualifying rounds has seen the Chilean move up a whopping 54 places and into 85th in the live ranking. In his path he has gotten the better of third seed Lorenzo Musetti, Pedro Martinez and sixth seed Sebastian Baez. He has been impeccable in Rio and is yet to drop a set in the tournament. Jarry also came through the qualifiers to reach the second round in Melbourne for the first at the major. Jarry is a strong performer on Clay and his three top-level finals to date have been on that surface. Advancing to the final will see him move into the top 70 for the first time in four years.
