Carlos Alcaraz vs Matteo Berrettini Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Wimbledon Championships

Top seed Carlos Alcaraz attempts to reach his first Wimbledon quarter final. He takes on unseeded Matteo Berrettini in round four with the winner up against either 21st seeded Grigor Dimitrov or sixth seed Hoger Rune in the last eight. Alcaraz has matched his previous best at this grass court Grand Slam by making it to the fourth round. We know he can do well on this surface as he won the Queen's Club tournament in the run up to Wimbledon. He's carried that good form on grass into Wimbledon with only one set dropped in his first three matches. That was a second set tie-break as he eventually beat the 25th seed Nicholas Jarry in four sets. He has won two of his three matches against Berrettini but this is their first meeting on clay. Three previous matches have seen four tie-breaks played. 

While Alcaraz is the world number one at present, Matteo Berrettini began Wimbledon down in 38th place. That's well below his career high of sixth achieved last year. The Italian has had plenty of injury problems in recent years. He loves Wimbledon though and reached the final in 2021. Last year saw him pull out of the tournament just before it started as he went down with COVID. 2023 began well as he was part of the Italian team that reached the United Cup final, losing to the USA. Injury has again affected him though and his only singles ATP Tour quarter final was in Acapulco four momths ago. He played one grass court warm-up event in Stuttgart but only won three games against Lorenzo Sonego. Berrettini met Sonego again in the first round of this tournament and won in four sets after losing the first. Since then he's beaten the 15th seed Alex de Minaur and the 19th seed Alexander Zverev without dropping a set. He'll give the top seed a tough match here and we go for both players to win a set.
