Carlos Alcaraz vs Laslo Djere Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Buenos Aires
by Kennedy Kechula in Tennis Predictions
Carlos Alcaraz will make his season debut on Wednesday when he faces off with world number 57 Laslo Djere in the second round of the Argentina Open. Spaniard Alcaraz is seeded first in Buenos Aires and received a bye to this round while Djere advanced after a straight sets victory over Fabio Fognini. Alcaraz began the year ranked number one in the world but his inactivity due to injury has seen him drop down to second behind Novak Djokovic. Last year was a breakout year for the 19-year-old who ascended from outside the top 30 to number one. Alcaraz became the youngest world number one in history after he finished the year with a 57-13 record. He won five titles, among them the US Open (first Grand Slam) and two Masters 1000 titles in Miami and Madrid.
Laslo Djere has been quite busy in the new year and is playing in his fifth tournament of the season. He got started for the year in Pune and then in Auckland where he made the quarterfinals. At the Australian Open, he advanced to the second round for the first time at the major thanks to a 3-1 victory over world number 124 Zizou Bergs. A straight sets loss to Grigor Dimitrov saw him exit the tournament. Before arriving in Buenos Aires, the 27-year-old played one match at the Davis Cup and won 2-1. Djere is up two places to 55th in the live ranking

Our Carlos Alcaraz vs Laslo Djere Prediction
Laslo Djere has already beaten a top-five player this year in Casper Ruud in Auckland. Therefore, he won’t be swayed by Carlos Alcaraz’s second-place ranking especially when the Spaniard hasn’t been active in two months. Djere defeated a top 70 player in Fabio Fognini in the last round in straights and will be very confident here. Alcaraz’s quality is based on his last game, which was a while back and injury might have taken a toll on him as well. Our prediction for Carlos Alcaraz vs Laslo Djere will thus be in favor of a Djere win.
