Carlos Alcaraz had a tough match in the third round but made his way past Frances Tiafoe. Now he takes on the 16th seed Ugo Humbert as he attempts to retain his Wimbledon title. A match against Tommy Paul or Roberto Bautista Agut awaits the winner.

Alcaraz had to win the final two sets to defeat Tiafoe in Friday's round three match. That was the first match in this tournament in which he dropped a set. Before beating Tiafoe, he'd had straight sets wins over Mark Lajal and Aleksandar Vukic.

The Spaniard won both Queen's Club and Wimbledon last year. He lost to Jack Draper in this year's Queen's Club tournament but has been highly impressive so far in defending this Grand Slam tournament. He fourth in the live rankings but a place higher in the Live Race.

This is the first match between Alcaraz and Humbert. The Frenchman is in the fourth round at Wimbledon for the second time in his career. He's had to wait five years though to again get to the last 16 of this tournament.

Humbert is up to 15th in the live rankings and also holds that place in the Live Race. Earlier this year he won two hard court titles and made it to the last four in the Halle Open grass court tournament, an event he won in 2021.

He'd lost his last three matches before coming to Wimbledon and he's had some struggles so far in this tournament. It took him five sets to get past Alexander Shevchenko and played three tie-breaks in his last match against Brandon Nakashima.
