Jannik Sinner will be the new world number one at the conclusion of this French Open. The second seed takes on third seeded Carlos Alcaraz in the Roland Garros semi-final. Novak Djokovic's exit from the tournmanent means Sinner will take over from the Serb as world number one. He already holds top spot in the ATP Live Race but he'd love to win his second Grand Slam of the year. The Italian has made it to the last four at Roland Garros for the first time. He's won three titles this year but all have been on hard courts, including winning the Australian Open. This is his second semi-final in the four clay court tournaments he's played this year. To get to his first Roland Garros semi-final, Sinner has only dropped one set and that was to Corentin Moutet in the last 16. The quarter-finals saw him beat Grigor Dimitrov in straight sets. 

This is the ninth match between these two players and they've shared the eight previous matches. Only one match has been played on clay and that was won by Sinner in 2022. He lost the first set on a tie-break and then won the next two for the loss of only a couple of games. The most recent match between them saw Carlos Alcaraz beat the Italian at this stage of the Miami Masters. That's the only match they have played that hasn't seen a tie-break played. Like his opponent, Alcaraz is yet to win a clay court tournament this year. He's had problems with injuries this year but his fitness looks ok at present. He's also only lost one set so far and in the last eight beat Stefanos Tsitsipas in straight sets. Our suggested bet is to go for a tie-break to be played.
