Top seed Novak Djokovic and second seed Carlos Alcaraz meet once again in 2023 and will on Saturday battle at the ATP Finals. The winner of this semifinal will then advance to play either Jannik Sinner or Daniil Medvedev in the championship match. Carlos Alcaraz has bounced back impressively after losing his opening match against Alexander Zverev. He has won his last two matches without dropping a set and this allowed him to finish top in Red Group. In his last match, he got the better of Daniil Medvedev. Alcaraz is making his ATP Finals debut. He has again been one of the standout performers at tour level and has won the second most number of matches with 64. One of those victories allowed him to win Wimbledon at the expense of Djokovic. Alcaraz has defeated Djokovic twice in their four previous meetings.

Novak Djokovic has already secured the number-one spot for 2023. Failing to win here against world number two Alcaraz will have no bearing on this. The Serb has won twice against Alcaraz this season and will be confident of making it to yet another year-end tournament final. He won his first match against the Spaniard in the semifinals at Roland Garros and then defeated him the last time they met. This was in the final in Cincinnati in August. Djokovic is the defending ATP Finals champion. He won the title last season for the sixth time and is now seeking to become the all-time record champion. The 24-time Grand Slam champion defeated Hubert Hurkacz in three sets in his last match. It was the perfect response to his three-set loss to Jannik Sinner that ended a 19-match winning streak. Djokovic, who finished second in Green Group behind Sinner, has compiled the best record in 2023. He has won a whopping 53 matches in 59 outings.
