Top seed Carlos Alcaraz bids to reach the Miami Open quarter final for the third successive year. The Spaniard faces 23rd seed Lorenzo Musetti in the last 16 of this Masters 1000 tournament. For the victor, their quarter final opponent will be either eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz or 11th seeded Grigor Dimitrov. Alcaraz won this outdoor hard court tournament two years ago and was a semi-finalist in 2023, He's in top form at present having won the Indian Wells title in his last tournament. So far in Miami, the top seed has beaten Roberto Carballes Baena and Gael Monfils in straight sets with nine games being lost. This pair have had four previous meetings with Alcaraz winning three of them. The most recent was last year in Beijing with Alcaraz winning for the loss of only four games. Alcaraz has won his last two matches against Musetti whose only win was on clay two years ago.

Lorenzo Musetti has made it past the third round in Miami for the first time. He was ranked 24th at the start of this tournament but was outside the top 75 in the Live ATP Race. The Italian has won two matches in a tournament for the first time this year. He did get to the last eight of the Adelaide International in January but only needed one win to get that far. In Miami. he's had wins over wild card Martin Landaluce and the 16th seed Ben Shelton without dropping any sets. We tip Alcaraz to win this match and do so in straight sets.
