Carlos Alcaraz begins the defence of the Cinch Championship title he won last year. The top seed faces unseeded Francisco Cerundolo in the first round of this grass court tournament. For the winner, there's a second round match against either Mariano Navone or Jack Draper. Alcaraz won this title for the first time last year and went on to win the Wimbledon title. This is his first event since winning this year's French Open at Roland Garros. The Spaniard is second in the rankings and third in the ATP Live Race. Alcaraz won all 12 of the matches he played on grass courts last year and it'd be a massive surprise if he was to lose this match.

Francisco Cerundolo has only had one previous match against Alcaraz. He won that but it was played five years ago on clay when Alcaraz didn't even have an ATP ranking. Cerundolo is 26th in the live rankings and also holds that place in the Live ATP Race. The Argentinian is best known for his clay court results but did win a grass court tournament last year. That victory came in Eastbourne when beating Tommy Paul in the final. Three visits to Wimbledon have never seen him get past the second round. 2023 saw him beaten by Jiri Lehecka in round two. Like his opponent, this is his first grass court tournament of the year. We tip Alcaraz to get a straight sets win.
