Carlos Alcaraz vs Casper Ruud Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Beijing Open
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
Top seed Carlos Alcaraz is yet to drop a set in the China Open. He looks to maintain that record when taking on seventh seeded Casper Ruud in the quarter finals. Up next in the semi-final of this hard court tournament is a match against either sixth seed Jannik Sinner or unseeded Grigor Dimitrov. Alcaraz remains second in the world rankings and has already secured his place in the ATP Tour Finals. The Spaniard could yet go into that tournament as top seed and will close to only 270 points behind Novak Djokovic in the Live ATP Race. Alcaraz is playing his fourth tournament since winning Wimbledon but hasn't won any of them. This is the seventh consecutive tournament in which he's reached the last eight and only in one of them did he not reach the semi-final. He's won both of his matches in this tournament in straight sets.
Casper Ruud is ranked ninth in the world and tenth in the Live ATP Race. He has work to do to get into the top eight and qualify for the Tour Finals. Winning this tournament would see him rise to that all-important eighth position. Ruud has struggled for form on hard courts in the past month or so. Three of his last four matches in singles tournaments had been lost prior to this event. This is his ninth hard court singles tournament of the year and he's in his first quarter final. The Norwegian has had wins over Jan-Lennard Struff and then a Tomas Martin Etcheverry. It was a struggle in the latter as he only won one game in the first set. This is his fourth match against Alcaraz and he's lost the previous three. Two of those losses have been on hard courts, both being tournament finals. Alcaraz is in the better form and can win this in straight sets.
