Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP US Open

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

Defending US Open champion Carlos Alcaraz takes on 12th seed Alexander Zverev in the quarter finals. The winner will take on Russian opposition in the last four, either Daniil Medvedev or Andrey Rublev. Carlos Alcaraz will be number two in the rankings when this tournament ends. While he'll no longer be the world number one, his aim now is to ensure he's a two-time US Open champion. The top seed had a couple of disappointing losses in the run up to this US Open, including a defeat by Novak Djokovic in the Cincinnati final. Better form has been shown in New York and only Daniel Evans has taken a set off the Spaniard. He trails Zverev 3-2 in previous meetings but did win their most recent match. This year has seen him win 20 out of 23 hard court matches, far better than Zverev whose record is 16-10.

Alexander Zverev lost in the US Open final three years ago. He made it to the last four the following year but missed 2022. He's dropped sets in three of his matches so far, the most recent being in the last 16 against Jannik Sinner. He beat the sixth seed in five sets, how much has that taken out of him? Before that he also dropped sets against both Altmaier and Dimitrov. This is his third ATP Tour hard court quarter final of the year, the other two being in Dubai and Cincinnati. He'll give Alcaraz a fight but our belief is that it's the top seed who can win in straight sets.

Our Carlos Alcaraz vs Alexander Zverev Prediction

Are we on the road to another Alcaraz v Djokovic final? It's looking that way but first Carlos Alcaraz has to get past Alexander Zverev and then either Daniil Medvedev or Andrey Rublev in the last four. Alcaraz has only dropped one set on his way to this quarter final and has an excellent record in this tournament. Zverev struggled to get past Jannik Sinner in the last round, needing five sets to do so. We go for Alcaraz to win this in straight sets.
