The OGs team of this season’s new format of the NBA All-Stars game will battle against the Rising Stars team in the first semi-final showdown. An exciting matchup in the championship game against either the Young Stars team or the Global Stars squad will await the winner. Read on to find our two predictions for this match.
The OG’s team is selected by Hall of Famer and four-time NBA Champion Shaquille O’Neal. WNBA legend Candace Parker will oversee the Rising Stars team that was selected by NBA assistant coaches as well as the league’s office.
This new format sees the All-Star weekend played for the first time as a mini-tournament. The players are battling for the All-Stars winners trophy as well as a cash prize of USD 125,000 per player. There have been changes made to the regular NBA match rules geared at making the matches more exciting. For instance, there is no clock for the duration of the game with the first team to 40 points being declared the winner.

The Rising Stars squad consists of rookies or sophomore players who are in their second season in the NBA. San Antonio Spurs guard Stephon Castle was named the MVP in the Rising Stars Challenge after scoring 12 points in the championship match.
Having NBA Hall of Famer Chris Mullin as Honorary Coach, the future stars won their two fixtures in the Rising Challenge. They won their first game 40-34 against Tim Hardaway’s squad.
In the final, facing off with the G-League select team, Mullin’s young guns secured a 25-14 victory. Castle is joined by fellow rookies Ryan Dunn, Zach Edey, Dalton Knecht and Jaylen Wells.
Keyonte George and Trayce Jackson-Davis, in their second years in the NBA, complete the line-up.
