Canada vs Spain Prediction & Betting Tips - Davis Cup
by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions
The new format has proved to be successful and on Sunday, Canada will be attempting to win the Davis Cup for the first time in their history. To do so though, they need to beat the host nation Spain. There had been concerns that this new format might not be great news for the doubles matches. That was perhaps the case early on when some matches didn't take place after the tie had already been won. However, in the closer games the doubles has provided a nail-biting finish and that could well happen in this final.
Canada have only used two players throughout this tournament. Denis Shapovalov and Vasek Pospisil have played all the singles and doubles matches. In singles matches, both players have won three out of four games and of the doubles matches that have made it onto court, they have won all three of them. The form of Shapovalov isn't a shock as he reached the final of the Paris Masters recently. However PospisiL is ranked 150th in the world, he must be wishing this had been a singles tournament.
Spain have used all five members of their team but suffered a blow when Roberto Bautista-Agut had to pull out due to the death of his father. Rafael Nadal has been in awesome form this week, wnning all seven of his matches. He's been proving just how good a doubles player he is and will most likely do that again if the final goes down to the deciding game. The other singles player for Spain will be either Feliciano Lopez or Pablo Correna Busta. The latter missed Saturday's semi-final win over Great Britain due to illness. Lopez and Busta have both played one single match this week and are still looking for their first win. This final is likely to go down to the doubles and Spain can get the win.

Our Canada vs Spain Prediction
Spain bid to win the Davis Cup Finals in front of their home crowd. They have Rafael Nadal of course and that means that Canada go into their first final knowing they are almost 1-0 down before they start. It's likely that this match will go to the deciding doubles as Spain's second singles player hasn't been coming up with the goods this week. Spain will likely have Nadal in the doubles too and they can be backed to get the win and lift the trophy.
