Nigeria's previous appearance in the Women's Basketball World Cup ended with three defeats and finising 16th out of 16. This time around it's been a lot more succesful and they play their seventh match of the tournament as they take on Canada to decide who will finish seventh and eighth. Nigeria began the tournament by finishing second in their group with wins over Turkey and Argentina after opening with a loss to finalists Australia. Finishing second took them into the first knock-out round where they beat Greece by a single point to set up a quarter final with the other finalists, defending champions the USA. Predictably they lost that match by 31 points. Their last game was on Saturday when they took on France losing by 22 points and now they have another tough game against Canada.

The Canadians finished top of their group with convincing wins over Greece, South Korea and France. That took them straight into the quarter finals but they lost by five points to the host nation Spain. Their last game saw them defeated 76-71 by China so the best they can finish in this tournament is 7th, two places lower than they finished in the last tournament. That was a disappointing result as they led by 14 points at half-time. These kind of games often produce surprise results with some teams just wanting to go home. This should be entertaining though and the tip is for under 140.5 points to be scored.
