Camila Giorgi vs Elina Svitolina Prediction & Betting Tips - Women's Olympic Tournament

Only eight players remain in the Olympics women's singles.  The top three seeds are all out and that leaves Elena Svitolina as the highest remaining one. She takes on unseeded Camila Giorgi for a place in the semi-finals. Svitolina has never made it to the final of a Grand Slam tournament, could this be the week when she finally lands a major title? The world number six last made it to a final in September of last year, when winning a tournament in Strasbourg. Her best performances this year have been semi-finals in Miami and Stuttgart, losing both to Ashleigh Barty. It's the second Olympics in a row that the Ukranian has made it to this stage. In 2016, Svitolina lost to Petra Kvitova after previously beating Serena Williams. Getting to the last eight here ends a run of four tournaments without doing so. This week has been tough for Svitolina with a trio of three-set wins over Laura Siegemund, Ajla Tomljanovic and Maria Sakkari. The last two of those matches both saw Svitolina have to come from a set down to win through. Only twice in her last ten matches has Svitolina won the first set. 

Camilia Giorgi is ranked 61st in the world and her highest ever position reached is 26th. At one point this year, the Italian was down to 86th but has had one heck of a week on grass in Eastbourne last month. Giorgi lost in the semi-final but before that had beaten two top ten players, Aryna Sabalenka and Karolina Pliskova. This week has again seen her in giant-killing mode with victories over 11th seeded Jennifer Brady, Elena Vesnina and another win over fifth seeded Karolina Pliskova. All of her wins have come in straight sets. The pair have only met twice previously. Svitolina won a match in China seven years ago, the most recent clash was in 2017 with Giorgi winning in three sets. Svitolina is never a player to put too high a stake on but she has had some good wins in Tokyo. Back her to win and have a side bet on the match going to three sets.
