Cameron Norrie vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction & Betting Tips - ATP Lyon Open

by Steve Ashfield | in Tennis Predictions

It's been another impressive week for Britain's Cameron Norrie. He's made it all the way to the final of the Lyon Open but now faces the second seeded Stefanos Tsitsipas. Norrie began this week ranked 49th in the world but is up to 45th in the live rankings and will become a top 40 player if managing to cause an upset in this final. It's good progress as this time last year he was the world number 77. His form has been impressive in this clay court season making it to the last eight in Barcelona before losing to Rafael Nadal. Norrie beat David Goffin and Karen Khachanov on his way to that straight sets loss to the King of Clay. More success followed as he reached the final in Estoril, losing to Albert Ramos-Vinolas after winning the first set. His good form has continued this week and in the second round, he knocked out top seed Dominic Thiem (who needs to improve if he's going to be a threat at the French Open) for the loss of only five games. Norrie had to go to three sets to beat lucky loser Arthur Rinderkneck in the last eight, losing the middle set. He really upped his game in his semi-final with another win over Khachanov but this time losing only one game in each set. This is only his third ATP Main Tour final and he's lost the other two.

Stefanos Tsitsipas is the second seed and bidding to win his second title of the year. The world number five has been incredibly busy this year and before this tournament had a 29-8 record for this year. He's been in three finals, had two semi-final defeats and lost twice in the last eight of tournaments. His one title came in Monte Carlo when he beat Andry Rublev. Tsitsipas lost in the finals in Barcelona and Acapulco. This week has seen the Greek get wins over Tommy Paul, Yoshihito Nishioka and Lorenzo Musetti in the last four. Only in that semi-final has he dropped a set. He lost the first set but then won the next two with only three games dropped and none in the final set. This is his first match against Norrie and he can win this match in straight sets.

Our Cameron Norrie vs Stefanos Tsitsipas Prediction

Just where has this form on clay by Cameron Norrie come from? He had no major wins on this surface before 2021 and has won one match in three appearances at the French Open. This year has seen massive improvement and he's in his second final of the season. He had a good win over Thiem but the Austrian has been struggling this year. That can't be said of Stefanos Tsitsipas who has been incredibly consistent this year. He can be backed to get a win over Norrie to win his second title of the year.
