Cameron Norrie bids to continue his impressive record at Indian Wells. The 28th seed takes on unseeded Gael Monfils in the third round of this outdoor hard court ATP Masters 1000 tournament. For the winner their opponent in the last 16 will be either ninth seed Casper Ruud or unseeded Arthur Fils. Norrie won this title in 2021 and since then has reached two more quarter finals. That means he has plenty of ranking points from last year to defend and is 31st in the live rankings. On hard courts this year, the British number one has reached the last eight in Auckland and the last 16 in the Australian Open. Recent weeks have seen him playing on clay in South America with a semi-final reached in Rio. His first match at Indian Wells saw him defeat Lorenzo Sonego in straight sets.

Gael Monfils has played Norrie on three previous occasions and won each of them. His last win over Norrie was in Cincinnati last year, winning that outdoor hard court match in three sets.The last two matches played between these two have gone to a final set. Monfils began this tournament ranked 54th and is up three places in the live list. He's 58th in the Live ATP Race with his best performance being a semi-final in Doha. Monfils has twice reached the last eight here but not since 2019. He's played two matches to get this far and beat eighth seed Hubert Hurkacz in the last round.
