The 33-29-5 Calgary Flames will host the 32-25-9 Washington Capitals early on Tuesday Morning. The Flames have been in good form of late, winning six of their eight home games in the last month. They have scored 30 in those games, more than half a goal per game than they have been averaging this season. A pair of recent home wins have got them to within six points of the playoff spots but they are going to have to extend that run to be able to make it into the postseason with only six of their last 14 games after this coming at the Saddledome. Blake Coleman and Yegor Sharangovich are tied for the team lead with 28 goals, already a career-high figure for both.
Washington is still right there in the wildcard race in the East, just a point back from the Detroit Red Wings at the time of writing for the final spot. This is the final game of five on the road for them, 2-2 in the first four, arriving off the back of wins in Seattle and Vancouver. The Caps are 6-3-1 in their last 10 away from the capital to get themselves up to .500 on the season away from home. A huge part of their recent upturn in form has been Charlie Lindgren between the pipes. He has shipped just six goals in his last five starts, winning four of them to add some stability with Darcy Kuemper having a down season. Kuemper won a Stanley Cup in Colorado but this has been the worst season of his career.
