The top four sides in the 2024 Currie Cup have been decided and duking it out for a spot in this season’s grand final will be the Blue Bulls and the Sharks, who will face off at Loftus Versfeld on Saturday evening. The Bulls ended the group stage in second place to earn a home semi, while the Sharks finished third. Let’s get into the match prediction.

The Blue Bulls were undoubtedly the pick of the sides for the majority of this year's Currie Cup group stage having gone eight weeks without defeat, notching up seven wins and a draw to book their spot in the knockout round with two games to spare. 

However, they perhaps needed that early record given that they lost their final two games, including a 57-33 defeat to the Lions at home before falling to their upcoming opponent 24-18 at the Shark Tank last week. 

Still, with home advantage, the Bulls are the clear favourites heading into this match and will be out for revenge here after that defeat down in Durban.

Meanwhile, the Sharks got the Currie Cup season off to a very poor start, failing to win any of their first three matches of the competition before springing to life in week four. 

Since then, the Durbanites have remained unbeaten in the competition, picking up six wins and a draw in their last seven matches to secure their semi-final spot a week in advance. 

While the Bulls are understandable favourites here, the Sharks undoubtedly have the psychological advantage heading into the contest owing to that excellent performance on the East Coast last weekend.
