A place in the final is up for grabs when Bulls host Leinster in the United Rugby Championship on Saturday at the Loftus Versfeld Stadium. The hosts overcame a spirited Benetton 30-23, who became the first Italian side to play in the competition’s playoffs. Leinster who are the tournament’s record champions made light work of Ulster to book a semis ticket with a 43-20 win. The South African side had a spectacular regular season, finishing second, just two points shy of table toppers Munster. Their impressive season also saw them take the tag for the most potent attack, having registered a record 669 points and landing 88 tries. This impressive attack saw Akker van der Merwe, David Kriel, Kurt-Lee Arendse, and Canan Moodie break into the top five try scorers. Besides a firing attack, Bulls also have a formidable home record that has seen them only lose to Munster this season.

Leinster are also coming from an impressive season that saw them lead the log for the majority of the campaign. The Irish side however opted to rest a couple of first team players for their trip to South Africa in late April. This move led to losses against Lions and Stormers which cost them as they finished third. Despite being the tournament’s record champions Leinster will be looking for their first title under the current name. Their last title came back in 2021 during the Pro 14 era and they lost the URC final back in 2022. Their away form does not inspire much confidence, having lost three consecutive games. They also face the daunting ambition of becoming only the second side to win an away playoff game against Bulls in eight outings.
