Blue Bulls vs Cheetahs Prediction & Betting Tips - Currie Cup

The Blue Bulls and Free State Cheetahs are set to clash at Loftus Versfeld in the Currie Cup on Friday evening. The hosts are currently leading Pool A, while the visitors are only narrowly behind in second place.

Both these sides will be putting their unbeaten records on the line this week following back-to-back victories in the first two weeks of the competition. 

The defending champions kicked off the new season with a commanding 82-20 win over the Griffons and followed up with another impressive performance at home, overcoming Western Province 37-17 last weekend. 

Notably, the Cheetahs are the only side in the competition to earn winning bonus points in both of their matches so far, which is the difference between these sides in the standings at present. However, both those wins were earned on their home patch and it will be interesting to see how they fair on the highveld this weekend. 

Last season, the side from the Free State produced the best away record in the competition of six wins in seven games on the road, including a 31-27 victory at this venue. 

Meanwhile, the Bulls have made a promising start to the 2024 Currie Cup season, currently second in their Pool but third overall, owning to the Golden Lions’ superior points difference. 

The Pretoria-based side got the domestic season started with a 30-25 win over Western Province and demolished the Griffons 52-10 last weekend. Impressively, both those victories came away from Loftus, which bodes well for their chances in this, their first home game of the season. 

Last term, though, the Bulls' major downfall was in fact their home record with only three wins secured in seven matches at this venue. However, given their performances over the last two weeks, they will undoubtedly feel they are the sort of form needed to overcome the formidable Cheetahs in this one.
