The Leafs are currently sitting second behind the Boston Bruins who have built up a heavy 13 point lead. Toronto have accumulated 76 points thanks to a record of 34 wins, 15 losses and eight defeats, giving them a four point lead over third-place Tampa Bay. Toronto is coming off a 5-3 away defeat to the Blackhawks, snapping a two game winning streak as the Maple Leafs struggle to build up consistency. The Maple Leafs are now 4-4 in their last eight games and will face a difficult opponent in Buffalo who are coming off back-to-back wins as they attempt a final push for a playoff spot. Toronto has struggled on the road this season, managing just 12 wins from 25 away games and only winning once in their last five trips. Toronto ranks seventh in terms of goals scored this season but will come up against an even more potent offense in the Sabres.
Buffalo comes into this matchup looking to make it three in a row following their 4-2 away win against San Jose.
