The Brooklyn Nets and San Antonio Spurs face off on Saturday evening with both teams looking to snap out of their respective losing streaks. Brooklyn sits 11th in the East with a 20-31 record while the Spurs are bottom of the Western Conference with 10 wins and 42 losses on the season. The Nets, fresh off of acquiring point guard Dennis Schroder for Spencer Dinwiddie at the trade deadline, are coming off a heavy 118-95 home loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Thursday. It was the team’s third defeat in a row and their fourth from the last five games overall. It also marked the second time in the last three outings that Brooklyn has failed to break the 100-point mark with their offense clearly struggling at the moment. This was highlighted in the loss to the Cavs where the Nets gave up a 21-0 run to start the second half, a stretch which all but decided the game.

The Spurs have experienced similar scoring difficulties in their recent contests. Their 105.3 average points scored in the last three games ranks 28th in the league during that time and the team ranks 27th overall in terms of adjusted defensive rating on the season. Additionally, San Antonio possesses one of the worst defenses in the league with 120.9 average points allowed. Their most recent appearance resulted in a 127-111 loss to the Orlando Magic, their sixth in a row. This is certainly not the start coach Greg Popovich would have been hoping for with his Spurs in the midst of their famous “Rodeo Road Trip”, a stretch which consists of nine straight road games spanning two weeks. The game against the Nets is the third game during this trip with the Raptors on deck next.
