LA Lakers are heavily fancied to be the NBA champions this year and currently top the Pacific division of the Western Conference. Along with Milwaukee Bucks, they are the only side not to have lost at least ten matches this season. They have a 35-9 season record and travel to the Brooklyn Nets who are struggling this season. The Lakers are ranked number one in the Western Conference and have won four more games than any other conference side. Only the Milwaukee Bucks with 39 wins have had more victories. The Lakers won't mind this game being played on the road. They have 19 away wins this season with only four defeats. Only Utah Jazz have less with three, but they have only played 20 away matches compared to the 23 that the Lakers have played. They come into this match having won nine of their 11 matches this month with four wins out of five on the road, the one loss being to Boston Celtics who are 18-5 at home.

The Brooklyn Nets still have a chance of making it into postseason but are't a leading contender to win the conference title. They are currently fourth in the Atlantic division of the Eastern Conference with an 18-24 season record. Even finishing third in that division looks an impossibility with Philadelphia 76ers having 11 more wins than them. Overall in the Eastern Conference, Brooklyn are currently occupying the eigth and final spot with Detroit and Chicago both just one win behind. The Nets have an inconsistent home record with 11 wins and 11 defeats (two more than the Lakers have had all season). It's not been a good start to 2020 for them with eight losses in ten games.
