Two out-of-form sides meet in a local derby in the Rugby Premiership. Eighth placed Bristol host Gloucester who are a place and a point below them. Bristol are currently in the final position that takes a side into the European Rugby Champions Cup but four places and ten points adrift of the final play-off position. Bristol have two of their seven games in this season's Rugby Premiership. They won their first two fixtures of the new season, winning at home against Leicester Tigers and then getting an away victory at Northampton Saints. It's been all downhill for them since though with five successive defeats. The most recent of those was a 39-31 away defeat at second placed Saracens, despite leading at half time, Their home games have produced that win over Leicester Tigers and defeats by title contenders Sale Sharks and Harlequins but only by a combined margin of 16 points.
Gloucester have also won two of their seven league games this season. Just like their opponents, Gloucester won their first two games of the new season but have lost the next five. Wins came at Harlequins and bottom-of-the-table Newcastle Falcons but only by a total margin of five points. Since then all five of their fixtures have ended in defeat and all bar one of them by a double-figure margin. Their most recent loss was a 38-20 home loss to Leicester Tigers. Gloucester have lost two of their three away games. Another loss looks to be on the horizon this weekend.
