The Women’s Volleyball competition at the Paris Olympics is set to get underway this week with Brazil taking on Kenya on Monday afternoon. As Canarinhas enter the Games ranked second in the world, while the Malkia Strikers are ranked 20th. Here’s our prediction of this Pool B opening match. 

Brazil booked their tickets to Paris by ending as runners-up of the FIVB Road to Paris Volleyball Qualifier Pool B in Japan last year. 

As Canarinhas have made every tournament since their debut in 1980 and have won four medals since then, including two golds, one bronze and a silver in the last edition in Tokyo. 

Barring back-to-back defeats at the Nations League, Brazil have been incredible over the last year, conceding only two defeats in the preceding 29 matches. 

In seven previous matches against Kenya, Brazil have never lost a single set. 

Kenya earned their fourth entry to the Olympics by finishing as the highest-placed African team in the FIVB World Ranking at the end of the Olympic qualification cycle. 

The Malkia Strikers are the lowest-ranked team at the Games this year and have never won a match at the Olympics in their history.
