Brazil will look to keep their unbeaten record at the 2024 Paris Olympics intact when they take on Japan on Thursday afternoon. The Canarinhas currently lead Pool B with three points, while Nippon are third and yet to get off the mark. Here’s our prediction for this second-round match.

The Brazilians made the perfect start to their Olympic campaign as they breezed past minnows Kenya with a flawless 3-0 performance to take an early lead in the group standings. 

Canarinhas were ruthless against the African nation, winning each of their three sets without conceding 15 points in any. 

The result helped the South Americans avoid a third straight defeat and marked their eighth win in the last 10 matches in all competitions. Notably, of the two matches they lost in that time, one was against their upcoming opponents last month in the Nations League. 

Meanwhile, Japan’s opening match of the competition did not go as they would have hoped. They put up a good fight against Poland but were unable to avoid a 3-1 defeat. 

Nippon won the first set against the White and Reds but only managed 22 and 23 points in sets two and three, respectively, before a 28-26-point fourth set, which Poland won. 

Japan have now lost their last two matches in all competitions and split their last 10 with five wins and five losses. Additionally, while they did beat this opponent last month, they had lost each of the preceding three matches between the nations.
