David Goffin has injected some stability in his season and will hope to extend the same against Brandon Nakashima next. The two meet in the Acapulco Open quarter-finals on Friday. We have a prediction for the match.

This marks the third meeting between the two and Goffin will be keen on a first win over Nakashima. Before arriving in Mexico, Goffin had suffered five straight losses to start his year.

However, a shift in fortunes has seen him bag straight sets wins in Acapulco. He saw off Rinky Hijikata then made another big step in the last round by beating Ben Shelton.

Getting to the quarters on his third appearance represents his best performance at Acapulco.

While Goffin had to sweat for his place here, Nakashima had an easy pass in the second round. His opponent, Holger Rune, had to retire injured in the opening set, with Nakashima already in the lead.

The American will benefit from this extended rest, having labored through the first round, in his 2-0 win over Benjamin Bonzi.

This is Nakashima's second straight quarter-final appearance after his loss to Matteo Arnaldi at the same stage at Delray Beach. However, his quarter-finals record at the tour stands at nine losses in 14 matches.

Leading 2-0 in head-to-head meetings with Goffin, Nakashima will be confident of progressing.
