Alexander Zverev is in the last 16 of the US Open for the fifth successive year. The fifth seed faces unseeded Brandon Nakashima for a place in the quarter-finals of this hard court Grand Slam. Time to read our match prediction.

Zverev is fourth in the latest rankings but up to second in the live list. Not since the 2023 WImbledon Championships has he failed to reach at least the fourth round of a Grand Slam.

In the US Open, the German has reached at least the quarter-finals in his last three appearances. His best performance in New York was when in 2020 he reached the final.

He has lost a set in two of his three matches played so far in this Grand Slam. Maximilian Marterer in round one took a set off him and on Friday he had to come from behind after dropping the first set to Tomas Martin Etcheverry.

He eventually won that third round match in four sets. This is his third match against Nakashima and he's won the other two including a four-set win in the 2020 US Open. Three tie-breaks have been played in those matches.

Brandon Nakashima is in the fourth round of the US Open for the first time in his career. Only once before has he reached the fourth round of a Grand Slam and that was at Wimbledon in 2022.

He is now 39th in the live rankings and four places higher in the ATP Race. The American has already beaten two seeds in this tournament. Holger Rune was defeated in round one and on Friday he beat 15th seed Lorenzo Musetti in four sets, losing the third.

We tip Zverev to win this match but believe Nakashima could take a set off him
