After receiving a first round bye, 31st seed Tomas Martin Etcheverry takes on unseeded Botic van de Zandschulp. This is a second round match in the hard court Shanghai Masters. Here's our match prediction. 

For the winner, there could be a match against top seed Jannik Sinner. Tomas Martin Etcheverry is the world number 35 but only 37th in the live rankings. He'll be hoping for a better week after losing in the first round of his most recent tournament.

That was in Tokyo when being beaten by qualifier Christopher O'Connell. Etcheverry had won his previous two matches before that loss. Both were for Argentina in the Davis Cup and played on hard courts.

He's far better when playing on clay but did get to the last 32 of the Australian and US Open tournaments this year, both played on hard courts. There's been one previous meeting between these two players.

That was this year on the clay of Gstaad with Etcheverry winning the match but needing three sets to get the victory.

Botic van de Zandschulp is down at 67th in the rankings and after qualifying for the main draw in Tokyo last week, lost in round one. The Dutchman has also been getting his best results on clay this year.

He only won two of his first seven matches played in hard court singles tournaments this year. Only in the US Open has he won two successive matches in a hard court tournament. He beat Carlos Alcaraz in New York but has struggled to repeat that form since.

Round one saw him defeat Pablo Carreno Busta in straight sets, though he needed a tie-break in the second. We tip Etcheverry to win this match.
