These two teams faced off on Tuesday night and will now play the reverse fixture on the second night of a back-to-back. Boston was able to come through as 118-110 winners over the Nets at the Barclays Center, notching their fifth win in a row. It also represented the Celtics seventh win over the last eight games as they continue to build separation atop the Eastern Conference standings. The winning streak has Boston’s record sitting at 42-12 on the year, giving them a healthy six-game advantage over the second-place Cavaliers. The Celtics have been completely dominant on their home court this season, posting a league-best 25-3 record. In addition to their league-best +9.4 average scoring margin, Boston also ranks first in the NBA in terms of adjusted net rating at +8.9.

The Nets lost by eight to the Celtics last night, marking their fourth defeat in the last five games. It’s been a tough run for Brooklyn which has resulted in them falling further back on the 10th-place Hawks in the race for the final play-in spot. The Nets now have a record of 21-32 on the season, placing them 2.5 games behind Atlanta. Brooklyn has certainly had its problems on the offensive side of the ball on this current losing slide as they have failed to crack the 100 point mark twice in their last five. The Nets will be heavy underdogs to get the win here as they hold an ugly 8-15 record when playing on the road this campaign. They’ll be without Ben Simmons for the trip to Boston while Cam Johnson is reportedly on track towards being able to suit up vs the Celtics.
