The first-place Boston Bruins play host to the third-place Tampa Bay Lightning in this Atlantic division battle in the NHL on Tuesday. Boston holds the second-best record in the NHL overall and will be looking to extend their lead over Florida in the division. The Bruins have a record of 32 wins, 11 losses and nine overtime defeats for a points total of 73, giving them a narrow three-point lead over the Panthers. They’re coming off a 3-0 home loss to the Capitals on Saturday, marking the first time they had been shutout since January of 2023. It was also the third time the Bruins have lost at home in their last four appearances on home ice. This will surely result in head coach Jim Montgomery demanding an immediate response here as they play the fourth of a current seven-game homestand. Overall, Boston has been excellent at TD Garden with 17 and three overtime losses from their 26 outings.

The Lightning will attempt to shorten the gap between themselves and the Bruins as they trail the division leaders by 12 points. The 2020 and 2021 back-to-back Stanley Cup champions are third in the Atlantic division with a record of 28 victories, 20 defeats and five overtime losses for a points total of 61. The Maple Leafs and Red Wings are both breathing down Tampa’s neck, trailing the Lightning by just a single point in the race for the final Atlantic division playoff spot. A win here would do the visitors a world of good in creating some much-needed space between themselves and their rivals. Tampa Bay was able to get back to winning ways after suffering two straight losses to the two New York teams in the Rangers and Islanders. A 4-2 away win over the Blue Jackets earned them their first win in this current four-game road trip.
