The Boston Bruins put their NHL best record on the line when they play host to the Calgary Flames on Tuesday. Boston sits atop the Atlantic division with a record of 31 wins, nine defeats and nine overtime losses for a total of 71 points. This has them five points ahead of second-place Florida and a massive 12 points ahead of third-place Tampa. Boston is also tied with the Vancouver Canucks for the best mark in the entire NHL. The Bruins come into this matchup off the back of a 6-2 away win over the Flyers, their second in a row. Boston’s been on an absolute tear as of late and took a run of seven wins from eight games heading into the All-Star break. They’ll now take to their home ice at the TD Garden in search of their 17th win in front of the home fans. Boston is 16-4-3 at home compared to their road record of 15-5-6.
The Calgary Flames are struggling in sixth-place in the Pacific division with a record of 22 wins, 22 losses and five overtime defeats for a total of 49 points. This has them trailing the LA Kings by seven points for the top spot in the Western Conference Wild Card race. Calgary were able to snap an ugly losing streak just prior to the All-Star break with a 1-0 home win over the Chicago Blackhawks. It was the team’s first shutout since December 21st and put an end to a four game losing slide. They’ll hope to carry over that momentum when they take to the road where they have a 10-11-4 record on their travels. They can take confidence into this clash as the Flames have won their last two games on the road after beating the Yotes and the Golden Knights in mid January.
