Qualifier Borna Gojo seeks to maintain his impressive US Open run when he meets second seed Novak Djokovic on Monday. From this fourth-round tie, a quarterfinal showdown with either ninth seed Taylor Fritz or qualifier Dominic Stricker awaits. Borna Gojo is through to the fourth round of a Grand Slam tournament for the first time in his career. And to think he is making his main draw debut at Flushing Meadows. Gojo, who is on a six-match winning run, has won his three main draw matches without dropping a set. In the third round, he defeated Jiri Vesely by the loss of nine games. The Croat has dominated on hard court with the win his 22nd in 30 outings on the surface. He has now moved into the ATP top 100 for the first time and is ranked 76th in the live ranking. Gojo has compiled a 39-21 record in 2023 and has two runner-up finishes in the challenger circuit.

Novak Djokovic survived a scare in the third round against compatriot and 32nd seed Laslo Djere. The three-time US Open champion had to come from two sets down to win in five. It was only the second time this season that he had played all five sets in a best-of-five match. The victory however extended his current winning streak to eight matches. Djokovic has advanced to the second week of competition here for the 14th time in a row. He has however been eliminated from this very round twice in his last three appearances. Djokovic has won two of the three Grand Slams already this year. He won the Cincinnati Masters before arriving at Flushing Meadows. His form at this year’s competition has allowed him to move back up to number one in the live ranking. Djokovic has compiled a 41-5 record in 2023 and has won 23 of the 24 matches he has played on hard court.
