Cristian Garin and Borna Gojo, both unseeded, will on Wednesday meet in the first round of the Los Cabos Open. Gojo is making his debut in Los Cabos and this will be his first tournament in a month. The Croat last took to the court at Wimbledon where he lost in the opening round. He had struggled with his form up until that point and will hope the break has rejuvenated him. Gojo has won 29 of the 47 matches he has played. Thirteen of his victories have come in 18 outings on hard court. One of the two challenger finals he has played in 2023 has come on the surface as well. This was in Monterey back in February. Gojo is down four places to 119th in the live ranking.

Cristian Garin is making his second appearance in Los Cabos. He was last here four seasons ago and was unable then to move past the first round. The Chilean will hope for better tidings this time around. His form coming into this match suggests a win for him isn’t that unlikely. Garin has won seven of his last 10 matches. In his last tournament, he rose from the qualifiers to reach the second round in Hamburg. This allowed him to get back to the ATP top 100 where he is currently ranked 99th in the live ranking. Garin has compiled an almost similar record to that of Gojo. He has won 29 of the 44 matches he has played with 12 of his victories coming on hard court. A second-round battle with either eighth seed Ilya Ivashka or the qualifier Beibit Zhukayev awaits the winner here.
