Magnolia Hotshots are living up to their name in this PBA Cup semi-final. It's a best-of-seven series and they lead Meralco Bolts 2-0. A win here will see them one win away from making it to the final against either TNT or San Miguel Beermen (currently tied at 1-1). Magnolia are the third seeds in the knock-out rounds, while their opponents are seeded second. There wasn't much between these two teams in the elimination round. The Bolts had a 9-2 record, compared to that of 8-3 for the Hotshots. Magnolia beat Rain and Shine in the quarter finals, while the Bolts struggled to get past NLEX. So far in this semi-final, Magnolia led in the first match but then lost the third quarter by 10 points to trail. They stormed home in the final quarter winning that by 12 points for an 88-79 win. That was followed by a more convincing 92-78 win. The Hotshots only led by two points at half-time but then won the next two quarters by 12 points. Back them to win again and go 3-0 up in the series.
