Bolts vs Barangay Ginebra Prediction & Betting Tips - PBA, Governors Cup
by Joseph King | in Basketball Predictions
Defending champions Barangay Ginebra are just one win away from a repeat title and a spectacular fourth crown in the last five editions of the competition. Game six of this best of seven, PBA Governors’ Cup final is set to take place at the Smart Araneta Arena on Wednesday in what is sure to be another electric atmosphere. The saga grows with each game between the Gin Kings and the Meralco Bolts as this is fourth time they’ve faced off in the last five finals of Governors’ Cup, with Ginebra lifting the championship on all three previous occasions. History is certainly against the Bolts as they will now fight to keep their dream of a first Governors’ Cup title alive with zero margin for error. Ginebra has won two straight games after a 115-110 win in game five to take the series lead for the first time. It will be up to Meralco to deal with the pressure as their opponents look to put them away yet again, and for the Bolts this must be starting to feel like a recurring nightmare.
Best Import award winner Justin Brownlee had another fantastic performance in game five as he erupted for 40 points, 11 rebounds and five assists. We’ve talked about Brownlee all throughout this series as his performances largely dictate the result for the Gin Kings. The Bolts have had no answer for the 33-year-old American as Brownlee makes his case for one of the best players the PBA has ever seen. There has to be questions about how the Bolts will respond mentally, facing elimination and trailing for the first time in the series. Ginebra have a huge physiological advantage with the recent history between the two sides and proven, experienced winners in their squad. This is a really tough spot for Meralco and things won’t get any easier on the injury front. Ginebra key big man Japeth Aguilar continues to recover from the injury that kept him out the first three games of the series, while Meralco guard Chris Banchero has been a shell of himself as he has been playing through an injury of his own for a number of games.

Our Bolts vs Barangay Ginebra Prediction
We’re going to back Barangay Ginebra on the -3 point spread to close this game out and take home yet another Governors’ Cup title. The Bolts will definitely make it tough with their backs against the wall but the experience in this Ginebra side, combined with the unstoppable Justin Brownlee, should provide them enough to pull away late and win this series 4-2.
